Well... What can i say for today? It's our last day! The only thing left were the video package and this blog. And i be coming back on monday to submit this journal in hardcopy.
All i can say for now, is that to summarise the whole thing that i've gone through, its something that all of us can learn from by doing it and observing others as well. Like i've mention in the other day.

Day030 - [Wed190308] Submission day!
We made a rush compiling everything and managed to complete the video, despite what happen the other day. We finally manage to transfer the video to tape and we all had to present our videos at LT with the rest of the Moving Images students.
We do know our mistakes in our video. Our voice volume were not constant and there were noises in the background, while our intro fast shoot was too fast and weren't much of a plan out and it wasn't taken smoothly, unlike HuiQin's part, which was good.
After the presentation of everyones video, i think that we could have done better if we would have follow strictly to our schedule and avoid changing of plans consistantly.
Raj group was the best, and i think that everyone agrees. It was creative to set a theme of a life as a Moving Images student as an adventure, and they really covered all the details, from the noises to colour correction, from filming to animation.
I think the problem that most of us were always having, are the mindset that we always have time and decided to rush everything in the last week, which i don't think that we should do it at all. Another problem is the consistency of changing and making new ideas that we never really decide on the main idea to work on. But sticking to the schedule is one of the most important thing that we should take note of, and make an effort to cover all areas in the production, like Raj group did.
It is something to be learnt, and by looking at raj group, there shouldn't be any reason why we finished the video later than them. They managed to get the videos done a few days before the submission, and also with such quality and works that were done to make such video, while some of the rest took a longer time for the videos and still didn't produce a much "wow" work.
Well, maybe an output and the measure of the quality of the video depends on the theme of the video such as documentaries and sketch. There are other groups that the videos were interesting and good too. But to do an unexpecting work is another thing. Raj group is certainly one that went over my expectations.

Day029 - [Tues180308] Animation Jam
What's the worst thing can happen? When the virus attack my computer and i was not able to open the flash files and did the colourings. Unfortunately Laurie had to do the colourings last night, and some of us were feeling stress out and frustrated the last night. So i finally came to school and tried to do what i can with the animation. I had a few problems with the theme title animation merging with the video, but finally got it done at 1040pm in school. And i am writing all these in school now. Alot of things happened and we got a little worried. We also did some voice overs earlier this evening, where i brought along a microphone and we used the audacity to record. Now im not sure if we could get all of the things done. We havent even convert the chibi characters animation to the video, except for the theme title due to the problem about our video, because the timeline on the program went missing, so we were not able to edit the time line. The only good thing we know is that we got all the videos done and save.
Peng! He was our lecturers for video fundamental. He came a few seconds ago before i type this sentence out. hopefully he's able to help about the disappearance of the timeline. And now the security guard came to chase us out. Looks like we really have to rush everything tomorrow morning before noon. *sigh

Day028 - [Mon170308] Animation Video
Laurie is still working on the animations and left a few more characters, while the rest are still editting a few parts of the videos. After laurie finally got the animation done, we transferred the file to my harddrive so i could do the colour edits. Meanwhile she also did some colour pallettes for the characters to make things easy. And its 2days to submission!

Day??? - [Fri140308] Animation!
Well, we made some changes for animations and decided to make it simple. We made somechibi characters for each one of us of the group members for our name introduction for the intro video, but we still keep with one of our ideas of animating the theme word "Seeds of Aspiration" in the intros. So now i have to wait for Laurie to do the animating, while i have to do the colourings and the theme title animation.
Day025-027 - [Tues110308-Thurs130308] Video edits
So we are finally working on all of the video shootings, which are the intros, contents and endings. So far, everything went well, except for the part that the animations date have to be delayed due to the video. If we ran out of time for animations, i guessed we have to change a few more things on the animations.

Day024 - [Mon100308] Video Finale
We finally managed to finish our intro and ending shoots at ampitheatre. laurie was alright, but was still a little injured due to the last friday fall. and the shootings went well and good, and we also took a few random videos of us doing random things, which is also good. And finally we are now able to start with the edittings on the intro and endings! hopefully we could get it all done by wednesday or thursday, so that the animation crew could start with the animation
Day??? - [Fri070308] AmpiTheatre
We went shooting at the ampitheatre for our intro, and we were quite happy with the layout and planning, but unfortunately, one of our group member, Laurie had a fall on the stairs and fall on her tail bone. ouch. So we ended up postponing the shootings to monday instead.
Oh.. and back to video edits! and looks like that our animation is going to be brought back due to our unfinished shootings on our intro and ending.

Day023 - [Thurs060308] Intro shoots!
We were off to intro shooting, but we had a little complication since one of our group members have a morning class which is me, and the other have an afternoon class which is hui qin. So we tried to finish up both intro and ending shooting by 3pm. We made a few shootings at the design ramp, but it wasn't as good as we expected. The exposure was dark, and it had been raining for the past few hours, and we kept retaking the shoots that we didnt manage to get what we wanted and hui qin had to go for her afternoon class.
So for the day, we went on editting and made a change of the venue for the intro and ending shooting to the Ampitheatre.

Day020-022 [Mon030308-Wed050308] Editin week!
Its now the editting week! We are now on to edits, butwe still have a few more shootings to do, which are out intro and ending. So for the next few days, we would be doing edittings on the contents of the videos and would be having discussion on our left over shootings which are our intros and endings.
Day019 - [Thurs280208] Logistics for e Day!
It's the day after the tv studio shoot, and for now, we were left with betty's shooting at boat quay. The group went to Boat Quay in the morning while i went for my morning class, and guess what. I'm the logistic for the day! It's a good experience by the way. *laughing out loud*
After class, i got a call from Betty that YiJie is coming late to school, so he cant help us out with shifting back the tables to the cafe, instead i had to ask for a friend to help me out with carrying the table and chairs. But on the other hand, i think i'm short of time to look for people to help out with the carrying since my class got released early and most of my friends are either in class or not in school. So i made an effort to carry 2 chairs and a table from design school all the way to the cafe next to the TP bookstore, and later i went to pass a camera to Zaihan at the level 5 studio so that the camera could be passed on to the group that owns the cam, at the same time i took a box of clay works from zaihan. After all the moving and carrying, i made my way with the box of clay to raffles place to meet my group mates at Boat Quay. Yeah.. i got tired out from the ravelling and carrying when i came. *laughing out loud*
After that, we continued a few shootings and moved to Minds' Cafe at Boat Quay for lunch and break, and of course, while i was there for my P1, i also did my other module assignment, where i had to take pictures regarding on lightings of architechture.
And yey! We are finally done with our content shooting.

Day018 - [Wed270208] VidFund @ TV Studio
It's Wednesday!!! It's the day where Shol would be taking his shots and we'll be seeing our cast acting at the back of a romantic scene.
The group met up early at about 330pm,so that we could start setting up the scene and check on the things that we might not have and need. We got the table and chairs from the Bistro Cafe and bought a white and red table cloth. After making sure that we had everything, we set up the positions for the table, chairs and the lightings, then we had lunch before waiting for our back crew cast, that are Caleb and Lydia.

Day017 - [Tues260208] AnimFund @ 2D Lab
It was now Laurie's turn to be interviewed, and things did not turn out what we wanted to. Our original idea was to have Laurie sitting at the front with a screen playing some of our animation works at the back. But unfortunately, we only managed to collect a few animations from ourselves and our seniors. Some of the seniors afraid about the copyrighted issue, and other than that, we had a little miscommunication within the group and had a "small fire" going on.
Sholleh was very upset with the animation collage we did as it wasnt as bright coloured and fast as he wanted it to. I think he wasn't thinking about the fact that our school animation works that was done in class are usually plain as it was like a "beginner" level, so it was most likely impossible. Laurie and I got a little frustrated as well because of Sholleh, as he was not clear of what he suggested to us earlier about the animation collage before we did it. Oh well.. Things like this are bound to happen. We can't always expect the day to be perfect. That's life.
After the fuss, we finally managed to think about the other backdrops that we could use for Laurie's interview. We thought about our first few/old ideas that we came up before we decided on the animation collage, and we finally decided to use the 2D lab lightbox and the noteboard, so that we could put up some animation characters on the board, that were orginally drawn by Laurie herself.

Day016 - [Mon250208] Prop preparation
The group came and a few of us brought along the props we needed. I brought along some candles with a candle holder while Laurie brought along an empty bottle for the "wine" later.

Day??? - [Sun 240208] @Boat Quay 2
Back to Boat Quay to shoot for our interview and finished up our storyboards and discussions with our group mates. But we end up not doing the shooting due to the haze and the lack of lightings. So we end up staying in MacDonald for briefing, discussion and re-editing our storyboards. We also managed to finalise our group production name to "Three:Eighteen" and came up with the logo and the transition effects for the logo. I'll post the image soon.
The next thing we got, was that we decided to bring our props for the tv studio video fund scene on Monday to make sure that the sets is alright and well prepared. That's all for now.

Day??? - [Fri 220208] @ Boat Quay
The group went to meet up in the morning at Raffles Place MRT while i had to meet up my friend at Bedok interchange first to get the DSLR camera. Then i went to meet up with the rest at Boat Quay MacDonald for breakfast and later carried on for our shootings. We made a few shots but didn't managed to have all the shots we need as we had to rush back to school for our other module. So we decided to carry on the shooting on the weekends.
Day015 - [Thurs 210208] @ TP
Nothing much was done today. Again, we had our usual briefing and discussions on the previous shootings and the upcoming shootings. Then later in the evening after we all finished our lessons, we went to the 2D lab to upload our footages of the shots we got to Laurie's hard drive, so that we could reuse our tapes for the next shootings.
We also decided to use a DSLR camera for our shootings the next day. So I managed to ask my friend for his camera and had to collect it in the next morning.

Day014 - [Wed 200208] @Stamford House
It's day 3 for shooting and we went to Stamford House to have our interview for Hui QIn there on Drawing Essentials and other stuffs. We went there in the afternoon and prepare the sets by bringing some of the clay works from school to be placed on the shelves. After preparing the set, we shot a video of the person sketching a portrait of Hui Qin in a few different mediums such as pencils and pastels. After the shot, we went to shoot Hui Qin being interviewed and also a shot of us setting up the scene in the place by helping arranging the chairs for the life drawings later and also removing our clay pots on the shelfs and placing back the items.
There are somethings that i forgot to mention. We had a few problems with the cameras and tapes as we found a faulty tape and had a shortage of number of tapes. The faulty tape also resulted in faulty cameras, so we end up shooting with one camera. Later in the evening, we went to take a shot on the life drawings. It was enough, and as usual, we had a short briefing after the shoots and commented on the day and the next day. This time, we would have to bring a cleaning cassette along with us, just in case such things bound to happen again.Sunday, February 24, 2008
Day013 - [Tues 190208] DMFun @ Mac lab
We had our intro shot yesterday and now its my turn to be interviewed. Actually, i was the first one to be interviewed. The interview was carried out at the mac lab and we got our sets ready and i displayed a few of my DM Fund work on the screen while the others work at the back. We were all assigned to different role. The roles are camera person, director, set person, photography person, etc. So i was asked to answer the sets of questions that we have already planned out and i had to keep retaking my shots to get my words right on cam.
We also had a few breaks and that was when we went cam-whore and took a few crazy pictures of us with the mac cam. I wonder if we got that randomness on the video cam. After the short break, we carried on the interview and it all went well. But some of us had to leave early as it was about 9pm. So a few of us left while a few others stayed for a short briefing.You could watched some of our random shots here. LINK
Day012 - [Mon 180208] @MindsCafe
It's day 1 for our video shootings. We came to school early and Betty made an arrangement call to the main person in charge of the Minds Cafe and manage to get approval to have our video shot at the place.
We went to the Minds cafe at Dhoby Ghaut area and shoot a video of us walking on our way there and had some shots of us doing random things. When we finally got there, we order some food and played some games while waiting for the food and shooting us playing as well.
We had an awesome fun loving time together and beating the crap out of us with some whacky games such as UglyUgly. We shot ourselves playing that game and fight for the ownership of the cards and stuffs. Ouch! I got hit by Sholleh a couple of times.
That was we did for today. Shot us playing and having fun and then we had a short briefing on the way back home and talked about how was the day and what to do on the next day.

Day011 - [Fri 150208] Next week preparation
We had some light discussions and briefing to finalize and confirm about the things that we had to do the next week, which is the production week on the shootings.
And confirming on the things that we have to bring for that day.

It's Valentines' Day!! And Friendship Day!!

So we made a list of the things for each backdrop and especially the video fundamentals scene. We had to make a few arrangement with the lecturers for the usage of rooms and had to talk to some of our friends, in search of a crew for the video fundamentals backdrop scene.

Day009 - [Wed 130208] Raccee Day
We came and met up during our class periods to shortlist the places to raccee. The first few locations to cover are the ones in school. So we raccee the places again and went to ask permission to book the rooms from one of our lecturer Vani. Right after we finished covering the areas in our school, we went for a quick lunch and set off at 330pm and took a bus to City Hall area.
We went to a hotel at Stamford Road to a place where they do potraits and other things essential to drawings and paintings. The backdrop was meant for drawing essential module.
So we raccee the place and ask for the permission of the owner and asked a few favours liked if she could sketch a portrait of Hui Qin while we interview her and also take a few shoots on the things they do there.
The next stop we went is the Subway station where some of the artworks by students from different school are being displayed and also where some other art exhibitions are being held.
Right after that, we went to 9 Shanton Way to raccee a place belonged to an animation company called 77star. We had a few difficulties communicating with the Japanese person, but it was all alright and Hui Qin tried speaking Japanese to him. *laugh out loud* It helps actually, because one thing i knew was that, he doesn't really understand numbers in english, due to some incident where i had to say nana instead of seven not too long ago, so Hui Qin said it in Japanese when he asked how old we were. (I know this is not relevant much, but i cant help thinking of both efforts trying to communicate to one another)
But after taking a look at the place, we decided to use our animation studio at school instead for our Animation Fundamental, because their new studio is only available in March.
Next in our list is Clarke Quay/Boat Quay, a place for digital photography essential.

We took a look at the place and decided on the possible shots and lightings. There wasn't much to talk about though. But we had fun walking and sight seeing.
The next place was Orchard Road. During the recce, we had another idea for our video fundamental backdrop and decided on a play or act for the backdrop in a tv studio. So we began to think about the number of crew we need for the scene. After an exhausting and fun walk, we had dinner at Long John Silver and continued the discussion the next day.
Day008 - [Tues 120208] Plan Raccee
Another process of finalising our ideas. We noted down places that we might thought of using as backdrops for our interview and we also recap on other few things that we have talked about for the past few days such as the questions to be asked in the interview, backdrops and the contents of the videos.
We planned to raccee the next day in school and outside the school areas. And we all have to come up with about 2 places for backdrops of the different modules we listed.
The modules we chose to show are, Video fundamental, Animation fundamental, Digital Media Fundamental, Digital Photography Essentials and Drawing Essentials.

Day007 - [Mon 110208] Flow of ideas and Raccee
I think my group kept giving out ideas that we were not able to decide or finalised our video ideas. But in a way its good to make improvements on our video.

Shol made a few more ideas that day and we all agreed on one same thing that was, our idea was not something to be "wow" about. It was too common and ordinary. So we made a few more discussion and tried finalising our ideas and thoughts of places for backdrops for our interviews.
So we raccee a few number of places in our school such as the TV studio, Gallery, Design Space, Sound room, 2d animation lab, etc.
Day??? - [Wed 060208] Discussion at BUS school
Its the eve of Chinese New Year. My group decided to do another discussion in the morning at Business School. So we all turned up except for Laurie who wasn't feeling well on that day if im not mistaken.
We all tried to make things clear and improve on our current ideas. Due to the comment give by our lecturer Ronald, we decided to change our intro and we watched a few intro video on youtube and got a new idea that was completely different from our previous intro idea. We decided to do something simple and fun that could go together with the concept of our animation mascots for our middle content so that we wont have the gap between the intro and the content, such as the intro is tense while the content is fun and simple (for example).
At the same time, we made draft 2 or plan B, just in case we are allowed to showcase about the year2s and year3s.
So here's what we got.

Day006 - [Tuesday 050208] Presentation 1
Day 06 is here! Ronald came into the class and asked if anyone would want to volunteer to present, but no one did. So he had to ask someone to call a number from 1 to4, and someone chose 3. So my group was the one to present first. (We didn't know that we were numbered)Okay. Back to the subject. We presented our work and i think we did quite alright but i do agree that we were not clear about the things we explained. Especially on our introduction part, because Ronald made a few points about it. Meanwhile, i think my group members or the least me were a little confuse ourselves since Alan was pretty much alright with our ideas when we explained it to him a few days back. (Alan took over while Ronald was absent)
After when everyone finally finished their presentation, Ronald gave us a few lectures about how "not out of the box" we are. Such that we all focus our videos on the year ones and not the other year levels in the course.

Ok. Where was i? Ah yes. My group DID include the idea of showing a few productions of the year 2s and 3s, but due to other comments and instructions given by other lecturers that we were to do about our lives as year 1 students,therefore we decided to do the project about us instead. I told Ronald about what the other lecturers have said, and he asked us if we had ever asked them about it. Well, no. But i don't think that there's a need of asking if there have clearly stated that we have to do the video regarding about us as the year1 students in MOI. I think the problem was the communications between the lecturers here. My classmates were filled with confusions. A moment we were settled and knew what we had to do, and in another moment, we are back to ground zero of confusion, and back again to understanding and there goes the cycle. We are still waiting for confirmations. At the mean time, my group will just make another draft or plan B and work out on our current ideas and make some improvements/suggestions for the current idea due to the comments given by our lecturer.
Day005 - [Monday 040208] Talk with Alfie
On Monday morning, my group and i met up at the library project room for our project. We made things clear of what we gonna do for the video and we discussed a few other things, such as the presentation. After our group's meeting, we head straight for brunch, and class after that.
During our class period, our lecturer Ronald didn't turn up for that day. Instead, Alfie came to our class to give a few helps and some briefing on the projects and told ask that he'll be in the other class if we would want to ask any questions.
But while he was in class, our course/class mate Raymond asked him a few questions about the limitation of the number of minutes we have to take for our interview and some other questions. So Alfie explained that the 2minutes per person was like a guideline or the maximum number of minutes that we have to take per person, therefore we could do lesser then 2minutes if we want to.
After the briefing, my group and I left the class and went straight to the 2D lab to use the PC for our presentation slides and more discussions. That was all for that day. After the discussions, i went for lunch with some other friends, while some of my group members gone for work and others continue with their own stuffs.

Day??? - Discussion on Saturday at 0415am-0530am

We all would have to make a presentation slides for the first presentation on Day006 which is this coming Tuesday. However on Friday and Saturday, all of our group members (excluding Laurie), were involved in the DOTC1 (Design Orientation Training Camp 1), yet we were fortunate because those that were participating for the DOTC1 were all in the main comm group. Therefore, we were still able to discuss about our projects during the lights-off period where all the sub-comm and GLs have their night rest while the main comm have their night patrols. So we finally managed to get our ideas finalized and noted down the number of things that we wanted to include in our slides and the things for the content of our videos that night/early morning. We informed Laurie to draw up a character/mascots for the slide show to show as the few examples for the video animations.

Day004 - Revamp Ideas 02
Today, Wahida showed us a few more video clips on some documentaries to give us a few more ideas. But i think the group kind of get an idea of what they wanted to do. And the video we watched are more like background base documentary. So... I don't think we'll have much of an influence of the video we recently watched. I don't want to be more confused, but the video was a warm up i guess. It set my mind in place. Okay, back to description on our group progress.
Yup. Like i said before, i had a huge feeling we were going to re-discuss and re-edit our ideas. That was what we did today other than watching videos. This would be our 3rd draft idea on the videos and we now had to include our very first draft ideas back. We changed a few things for our intros, contents and we finally came up for the ideas on our endings. So here's what we got so far.

- Animation + Videos
- Animation = High Contrast and thick line art
- Images/Videos = Footage on the modules we did
- Voice Overs = "I am"...designer/daughter/mother etc. (a few number of voices)

- Still filming with fast play *(maybe include the "hobbies/interest")
= At TP bustop: Still filming of the group members with fast moving traffics and people.

- Video/Animation interaction
= OCs/little mascot quick animation frame (pulling headings/subheadings)
= Interviewed person may "interact" with the animation, such as if the mascot made mistake on the subheadings (spelling mistake/ proportions, etc.)

- Freeze frame on the jumps/pose

Day002 - Revamp Ideas
We had to renew our ideas today and got it finalized. We decided to make it seemed partly documentary with the interviews and filming on behind the scenes of what we did as MOI students.
So we had to take 4 MOI students for the interview and we had YJ and Demp so far. Others will be viewed later during the process.
So here's what we got so far..
Intro:
Shoot01:Random shots and images of MOI works
(with voice over)
voices- telling what they want to be
Shoot02:vid records of the 4 people for intro for the middle content.
(with voice over, they introduce themselves)
type of vid shots: record them observing the things around them while their surroundings move fast/slow.
Middle Contents:
Interviews with
2 animation students
2 video students
Shots:
Records of their school assignment/project and their production process
Show what MOI students do basically in school
Show what they do during spare times
Interviews of students are not in order. Take turns.
Show interactions between 2 groups of MOI students.
Some interview shots will be overlap with other shots.
Ending:

Day001- Discussion over lunch at JupiterCafe
Ok. now for the real write ups. its 1221am right now and i think i'll be continuing this journal tomorrow morning if im half-way done here. At the meantime, this is what i have to say.
At 1215pm or should i say yesterday, we were briefed about the things that we have to do for MOI (Moving Images) Project1. All about the objectives, target audience, assesments, productions, etc.
The first few things that we had to do was to form a group of 4 to 5 members and i got betty, hui qin, sholleh and laurie. We were told to produce a video presentation that illustrates our journey through our first year in MOI and our target audience were the students or the new incoming freshmen during the orientation, students-visitors at Open House and our parents. Yup. Our parents. ^^;
After the briefing and the forming of groups, my group decided to discuss about the project during lunch at Jupiter Cafe, where there are less noises. So we made some rough ideas about how the video going to turn out.
Betty came up with an idea of making the video MTVish (yeah i know there's no such word), in another words MTV style. Well, thats interesting. Man, this music video idea reminds me of one competition i didn't manage to start. I'm not going to say more about it cos' its out of the topic.
Other things that we came up with was to include a tagline in the video and show the things that we love doing, other than Moving Images (Filming and animation). It tells that although we have different background, hobbies and interest, we are still the same in the end. Other ideas that we came up about the video effects and stuffs is to animate some characters moving objects in the screen and do some fast/flicking images.

Day001- Rambling 280108
1015am - got up to get ready for the first day of school.
( first day?? yeah.. okay. its always the 1st day of school for me at every beginning/end of the month, due to the different modules/subjects at every month. isn't that great? ^^)
1115am - light breakfast at home
( just in case you're wondering. i had a hand full of rice with fresh water fish [bought in JB wet market last night] cooked in some sought of curry)
1140am - left home (i know that it's kinda late for lesson at 12, but it takes 10-15mins of travel; depends which bus stop that i take and whether if the bus comes on time/late/early or i miss it)
1200pm - reached school and off to LT for project briefing.
0145pm - moved my 1m paint board and the aisle down to the space for exhibition and off to lunch with mates at JC (Jupiter Cafe)
0205pm - discussion over lunch at Jupiter Cafe, with group mates about the project. (and while eating JC's top listed food-Chicken Leg Pasta. yummy! don't talk while your mouth is full guys! :p)
0245pm - off to help my friend kala with her 1m paint and aisle, and off to 3pm class.
0315pm - Design History Culture class starts ( guess what we did.. all we did is talk about hady mirza asian idol and watch some ape film. isn't that fun? XD yeah..ok. its inspirational to start off with.)
0430pm- released from class early ( and i went straight to the lab to find hui qin as usual, staring at her lovely drama actors on youtube by the monitor screen. lol. how lovingly. ^^ while she continued with her dramas, i play RPG horsies for 15mins before starting out the blog for the project, which is this blog, and while watching Gackt's concert video ^^)
0600pm - my dad fetch me from school right after his stuff at the police academy for some course or training i think. (it was classified :p and yeah, i left my dad wait for me for 7 mins before i get to the car cos' i was watching Gackt. XD oh. and another 3mins for traveling/walking time :p sowie..)
0630pm - reached home, rest and clean myself up before dinner at 7.
e rest of the time is on the monitor screen.. ^^
